One by two

This lock down is giving me the opportunity to catch up on those films that I may have missed in my busy schedule. Yesterday saw this film by Abhay Deol. He is known to do off beat films & here he does not disappoint. He is the protagonist who is undergoing the pain of break up. There is this dancer who despite being skilled is not getting what she rightfully deserves.

Abhay Deol & Preeti Desai are destined to meet. They actually meet at the end of the movie. They have been crossing paths unaware of the others existence. Now this I felt was very novel. How they eventually will lead their lives is any body’s guess.

Abhay Deol started with ‘Socha na tha’ a film which had surprising freshness. As I went on looking at his films that new look never left him. He is never in the film dominating it & yet very much there! Recently in ‘Chopsticks’ he is that nery guide, a foody to find her car but never hogging the screen as normally the male actors do!

“Dev D” was the film for me to like him. He was good in ‘Happy bhag jayegi’. We know he is not the hero & yet we keep on looking at him. For his performances he may not get an award, may be never & yet his work cannot be ignored.’Oye Lucky’,another good one there to look for. ‘Aisha’ a film that would never have been made. Sonam Kapoor was fixed but her role being pivotal no one was ready to play her partner. How pathetic! I mean who can forget his climbing on the branch near her window & almost falling off! Given that he is not the real romantic type hero! He doesn’t even flex his muscles like Sunny paji to get his girl!!

“Raanjhanaa’ in which he had a late entry but straight as Sonam’s would be! Not being threatened by Dhanush who has all the girls swooning over & entire footage in the film, he managed to hold his own.An eyecatcher’ Ek Chalis ki last local’ with Neha Dhupia was one of his best till date. For unknown reason I have always liked Neha Dhupia from her ‘Julie’ days.

Not to forget his role in the blockbuster, ‘Zindagi na milegi Dobara’ where he is seen along the supple Hrithik Roshan dancing to ‘Senorita’ & Farhan Akhtar. Cast opposite the mercurial Kalki, who he is going to lose anyway, wasn’t a role so easy that he portrayed.I have listed only those films that I have seen. Yet I feel confident that I have seen him in most of his good roles.
