While on camera,talking to the invisible audience was an experience in itself. I like to see the faces around me. Their reactions, smiles,muted conversations these responses help to elaborate further. Then I concentrated on my cameraman & continued as she nodded. More than every word being evaluated, gesture followed what was knew was the anxiety that I had never known before.
i remembered when I stood before the class of odd aged ladies on the mat trying to make of a teacher, a college goer. I had just finished my lessons in Yoga & trying my hand at being their teacher. That experience taught me what I would have never learnt in my BEd classes. I knew then that you have to know your content than what you teach!
With my background in Microbiology when I started with Biology for the 11-12 students I had to study the basics again. But with age & a few degrees more than them I was pretty confident. With the experience of teaching a diverse group helped me further. Still I had to prepare myself before facing the class. The difficulties the students asked had to be dealt with then & there. I couldn’t say I will read & let you know tomorrow. Acharya sir was a pillar of strength then. My teacher & now my colleague helped. There was no competition. When you are a student you can keep a few topics in option here you must know everything! This advice helped me & is with me for the lifetime.
If you don’t know, say you don’t don’t misguide them. They accept willingly that you are human but don’t try to be a super human! One person cannot know everything! How true. Hardly do people realise it. We strive to multitask in a hope that we complete the work or lot of it in one go! But the strain it puts on us goes unheeded. Realise your potential but do not stretch that it threatens to break.
Am going to enjoy my sessions from today.Also searching for diverse & interesting topics to be put forth so that it will be sufficient for 2 months. The lockdown has really brought in so many never thought of changes. Given us golden opportunities to grow.
