Guardian

With barely two episodes remaining, the guardian has met with his end. The memories are erased so the Goblin’s bride lives with a pain but doesn’t know why is she unhappy. The Goblin is walking a long stretch of white desert & only has the contract, a piece of paper in his hand. He has promised to be the rain. To be the first snow & to come when summoned.

After 9 years, she has achieved her dream.She is the radio producer. Generally unhappy because she knows she is missing someone. she has forgotten something. But what? She is sitting on the terrace & holding a cake. As she lights the candles & blows on it. The Goblin appears & gives her a hug. She is surprised, on recovering asks who he is. The drama people are in the annex building. Why did you hug, are you acting? Who allowed you here, where is your ID?

Change in her hair style makes her face look mature. I very much appreciate her for her bearing. She is so natural & without being flustered she is the perfect foil for Gong Yoo. In the ongoing drama where she is opposite Lee Min Ho she is equally cool. With Jung Hae in,’Tune in for love’ the story was different & I waited for a glimpse of hope somewhere.

The scene where Gong Yoo is sitting reading a book & glances up. She is coming towards him, as her hair bounces, he thinks ‘a girl as small as a violet…as delicate as a flower petal..’ he being a Goblin living for last 939 years it all is too poetic. She does look that tiny & delicate. Also everything that he doesn’t say! He regrets not meeting her earlier.(So do we!)

With “King: the Eternal Monarch’ I am familiar with the style of writing of Kim Eun-sook & yet I marvel at the well written dialogues in the Guardian. It is the past & present lives In the King it is the parallel worlds that we deal with. She is very skillful at keeping us hooked.

When he is walking with the palanquin & his sister asks ‘How do I look?’ He says, ‘Your face is ugly’ she fears what the king will think. To which he says he has already seen your face. The bickering between the brother & sister is age old. I don’t think in next hundred years any brother would appreciate his sister & say ‘You are pretty’ to her face!

The exchanges between the Grim Reaper & Ms Sunny are as awkward as can be & very sad. We are aware of the fate (Are we? )so they are really teary. The honest feelings not appreciated due to the sins committed in the past life!

With a door opening in the lanes of Seoul to suddenly in Canada, Quebec it brings in lot of drama. How they managed the continuity is a marvel in itself. Gong Yoo in slippers goes to the hawker to buy a necklace that she had liked. He is home in a previous shot & as he opens the door, he is in Quebec!

Hoping for a good end to an interesting story till now.
