Comparision

While watching ‘Moon embracing the sun’ I realised I like ‘Moon lovers’ better. Formerly I had not seen it so I wasn’t able to compare but today I can definately be very sure. Looking at the number of people who want the second season for ‘Moon lovers’ it is still the favourite. It will remain so after all the historical shows telecast.

The overview shows that it is a love story of the king & the shaman but initially she is a scholar’s daughter, we can’t forget that . Whereas IU is a modern girl girl & remains that. She has another name & identity for a short period. The concept is novel.What if…without changing the history only IU is incorporated in the story for a short time.

Understanding so many princes was a bother but as you get the hang of it, all of them are real for you. Here there are two brothers only. Kim Soo hyun as always has more screen time. He being the lead that is justified but Jung II woo has very few scenes where he would have excelled. Similar situation does arrive when Lee Joon gi takes center stage, Kang Ha neul is shifted to the periphery.

In ‘Moon lovers’ all the princes love IU. In ‘Moon embracing the sun’ there are two princes but who will be king is already decided. Heo doesn’t have feelings for anybody but the Crown prince. The role of black magic & the shamans is more than what is necessary. In both the shows the leading lady has to go through lot of pain & has to be in prison.

The garden in ‘Moon lovers’ is very special I haven’t seen in any other show. The palace, palace grounds, the lake, bridges are common in other shows also. “Rookie historian”,’Love in the moonlight’, ‘The last empress’, ‘My sassy girl’ are the other shows that showcased the historical period , costumes & a good story. ‘Saimdang’, “King: the eternal monarch” & “Guardian”also have similar locales.

Bringing together so many characters & a story of each was a task that was fulfilled successfully in ‘Moon lovers”. There is a simple one track to be followed in the ‘Moon embracing the sun”. In ‘Moon lovers’ it is the hair pin & here also it is the hair pin but worn by royalty so it is the queen’s horizontal pin. The red is the sun & the white is the moon, the sun is the king & the moon is the queen! Without so many evil people around it would have been a simple love story. Villians are too many.

Still watching so can’t comment on the end. Will do that when I reach the end of the show. Happy viewing!
