Another of Nicholas Spark’s novel made into a movie. His “Notebook” is more famous I believe, but this has a good story as well. A marine finds a photograph of a girl & tries to find who she is. As he saw the photo in the rumble he is saved by it. Had he been two steps back he would have died with the rest. He is hankful & needs to thank her in person!
He finds her but suddenly becomes tongue tied & takes up the job of cleaning the dog cages & staying there. He believes he will have the right opportunity. But he gets more entangled with her, her grandmother, her little son & gradually the rebelation gets postponed. The locale is breathtaking & the events follow in a sequence but when they become so close there is all the time in the world to get it off the chest! The moment is gone & then the misunderstanding, the tears that follow are something that surely could have been avoided.
As I read through it’s reception although it was good at the boxoffice people did not like it. To fall in love with a film has many reasons. Firstly the timing, if that is perfect even a mediocre film does well. When the competition is tough ,you had it! There are so many Rom-coms released, people will naturally like something different!
But it has it’s moments. Zac Efron who won many awards had done good work. He looks a Marine & his demeanour later is credible. Rest of the cast is also good.
Worth a watch. Happy viewing!
