Die Empty

Unleash your best work every day….reads the tag line. How true! Aren’t we afraid of pit falls & failures every day? Actually every day can’t be a success & yet it is not easy to digest minor hiccups.

Yesterday the electricity shut down was for several hours & then when suddenly the lights came on & in a blink they were gone & came again. It was disastrous for the gadgets to cope up. Our neighbours had an issue with their water pump & we had a bump with the stabiliser & then no internet. The plans for the evening went off air. Naturally no viewing, no post & early to bed!

“Die Empty” by Todd Henry tells us simple techniques to cope.He says ‘ the question isn’t whether constraints exist, but whether we persist in finding our way around & through them.’ He says it is not the journey but the glitches that teach us. So passing an year is not important but how much you enjoyed & learnt from it is!

Don’t anticipate that someone is going to hand you a map. You’ll probably have to make your own. Say yes & figure it out on your way! How simply put. It is never the floral language but the heart put in simple words.

He stresses on three steps..Step, Sprint & Stretch. Step goal is for today. Sprint for a week or two, the Stretch goal is the one that forces you to go far beyond your comfort zone.

He quotes Benjamin Franklin who asked two questions daily…Morning question,’What good shall I do this day? & the Evening question,’What good have I done today?’ answering these questions will help you grow.

He hates ‘Waiting!’ He is confident that once you say yes, you move. By waiting you are just being indecisive. Sometimes waiting is perseverance & same cannot be true always. It is never too late. Each day is an opportunity to begin with. Mould it your way. You cannot pursue greatness & comfort at the same time.

Loved to read it. I like such books which heighten your morale. Do read. Happy reading!
