The sweetest thing

Now why did I chose to see this? Comedy, known names & fitting in my time frame, but nothing sweet about it. The story line is simple. Christina is afraid of commitment. She has flings but dumps all. She meets Peter at a club where she is comforting her friend, Nancy. Strangely finds she is attracted to Peter but knows only that his brother is getting married at Somerset.

She goes there to find Peter is getting married. She is devastated & runs away. But finds that she cannot forget him. Now actually this could have been a very good rom com with a few teary moments, but fails miserably. The jokes or humour under the belt is too much to digest. After skipping a few sequences yet it was a waste.

I firmly believe I am made for those soft 12-13 aged dramas only. These 18-19 aged are a blow to my system. The lyrics simple & tender make for good songs. The beat or the dancers can make the experience one in a lifetime. Why, then go for words that makes one cringe??

In 1997 I came across an attendance sheet with signatures of the students present in my class. At the end the f.. word was written against a number non existent. First I thought of tearing up the sheet. Then I thought of confronting the class. But if the individual was a coward why give him recognition? Why blow up the issue? I was scanning all the faces the next day. The division was of students that would stand first in the college. Nobody had any other expression than being attentive. Again the next day it was repeated & later it was gone.

I desperately wanted to know the psychology of that student. Plus why me ? Was I new, or immature or.. then it came to me that it had nothing to do with me. It was merely an expression which could not have been expressed otherwise! Then do wwe have a facility where opening up is possible without feeling ashamed? Desires to be channelised requires effort. Do we as parents look into the needs of our children? How do we treat them?

Expressing my feelings after so many years is a load off my mind. But still the issue remains. The feelings exposed unnaturally is one thing & then finding a solid way to go about it is maturing!

Happy thinking!
