Rim jhim gire saawan ..

One of the loveliest songs ever to be written. From Amitabh’s ‘Manzil’ with Moushumi Chatterjee.’Rim jhim gire saawan..’ the movement of the rain is soft, slow & the water falling down is pleasant. Here we are not thinking of the dust, the discomfort or the wet clothes but the joy of getting wet gradually.

‘Sulag sulag jaye mann..bheege aaj is mausam mein lagi kaisi yeh agan..’ the rains bring in emotions hidden till today. The voice of Kishore Da & the Marin drive with the duo of Amitabh & Moushumi getting wet by the rains & the waves reaching the banks.

‘Jab ghungruon si bajti hai boonde, armaan hamare palke na moondein…kaise dekhe sapne nayan , sulag sulag jaye mann… The rain drops have been like the’ ghungru’. Only a skilled dancer can make them speak. So the cascading rain drops are making a melodious sound & the desires are unleashed. Now there is no stopping them. The ignited mind has no rest & it is impossible to dream. If we connect dream to sleep then there is no sleep I believe.

‘Mehfil mein kaise keh de kisi se, Dil band raha hai kis ajnabi se…’ Now here comes the realisation. If it is a delicate process it can’t be spoken about.’Haaye karen ab kya jatan.. sulag sulag jaye mann…It is impossible to tell & to remain silent. With every word I am aware of the beauty of the verses which must have been written with such feelings that they are fresh forever.

Beautiful sentiments, unsaid thoughts, eternal feelings & the rain! How can we capture the beauty in a few sentences. It is this & some more. Happy listening!
