A Hindi film made in 1949 by Raj Kapoor was a major hit. Lovely songs make it unforgettable today.’Hawa mein udta jaye mera lal dupatta malmal ka’ by Lata Mangeshkar is an iconic song. Both Nimmi & Nargis have the playback by Lata Mangeshkar.’Jiya bekarar hai aayi bahar hai aaja more sajana tera intezar hai..’ the wait is the mainstay of the film. Nimmi is waiting for her beloved & for the ‘Barsaat’ the rains !

Isn’t the idea forward for any times.. who really understands & admits.. that pyar ho gaya. Aren’t we more bothered by aise kaise ho gaya? Aur mujhe hi kyun? I mean a normal person will not be able to sing it aloud!

‘Meri ankhon mein bas gaya koi re.. & The ultimate….’Patli kamar hai..’ Prem Nath in the club & a total womaniser. He realises true love & comes to find Nimmi. But she is no more. He is seen lighting her pyre, as it rains.

In 2005 another ‘Barsaat’ was made with Bobby Deol. He marries Priyanka Chopra against his will & moves to US. He meets Bipasha Basu. She wants to marry him, not knowing that he is married. Priyanka in a role that one would never imagine. Her latest films give her due credit. She is the typical wife & yet has managed to shine through it all! If one has a prejudice that she had the Miss World title, then every Miss World should have made it here. She has the talent to survive in the competitive field & excel. Kudos to her hard work!
