At the beginning it almost felt like ‘A little thing called first love’ but I believe it is different. The first two episodes introduce the main characters Lin Yi, Xing Fei, Xiaotian Tang & others. It starts with the Southern University. Sito Moo is getting ready for her interview & her friend is waiting downstairs. She dons a delicate ,white dress with frills. She twirls around & descends the steps. She gets on his bicycle & they are off. Suddenly they bump into Gu Weiyi who is also riding his bicycle. All of them fall & get up quickly.
Her dress is caught in the chain of the bicycle & Gu inquires if she is in a hurry. She says yes. He pulls her dress, frees her , picks his bag & is off. In this confusion, their bags get switched. At the interview she can’t show her work & Gu doesn’t have his student card & misses his exam. He does resemble Lai in a few shots.
Lets look at the similarities. I like teen, school goers. Then when they are studying or chartering their path is very exciting. The campus, amenities, labs, teachers, the playground, last but not the least the well equipped library are a must. Instead of bikes if bicycles are used it’s more eco-friendly!
Both the girls are junior to their beaus. Both are named with an “M”.Both love Doremon. Both have top students in the University to fall for & lucky enough to get their feelings reciprocated ! There is one more rival who is constantly around to complicate things.
In “A little thing..” Miaomiao has recently shifted to the seaside village but comes across Liang even before she enters the campus. Her sister & Miaomiao are playing with a watermelon on their terrace, it falls on his head & forms a crown, he smiles, moves away. Here their friend finds they share a house & he leaves angry & confused. Gu goes for a handy plast & buys a watermelon, the fruit bowl is empty! They share a watermelon.
Miaomiao has braces & when she has to remove them, Liang is there to help. Every important event in her life is shared by Liang. Here, when she gets robbed, she rings for help. Her friend doesn’t appear but Gu reaches on time & helps her. She has wounded her hand & leg. He helps with a wheelchair. The same doctor treats her when she has stomach ache & has to be admitted. Gu helps her then as he is the one around.
She is about to graduate from Accounts but wishes to work in Advertising. There Miaomiao is in Architecture for her senior, who is the most brilliant student in the University. But actually wants to make a career in Fashion. Gu is the top student in the Physics dept. He misses his test but she brings the test paper from the professor & he completes the test. He joins his team of top students.
The presence of the extra friend right from the start is different in this show. Whether he really has feelings for her or is just a friend is anybody’s guess. Recently her mother has entered the picture so it will be interesting to know what happens next.
At the end of the first episode in “A little thing…” that she has a thing for him is clear as she looks at him. That idol worship can never escape our experienced eye. He lends her his umbrella & that goes straight in her drawer of the most coveted things! His feelings are not known till much later.
Unsure of her response,here Gu tries to remain in the background. Lets see for how long! That’s all for today. Happy viewing!
