The time when their faces were not so familiar I had the suggestion to watch this drama. Today I know that both are the finest actors in Korean drama ever. In ‘Secret Garden’ if you like him, this role fits his personality! ( with the exception of ‘Negotiator’ I believe where he is at his best. He fits the tall, lanky, dusky, charming person holding hostages & a couple of others.)
Hyun Bin & Park shin hye make the best couple. The roller caster ride begins from the first episode when the lead pair has not even made their appearance. In the final moments Hyun Bin checks into the Hostel Bistro run by Park shin hye. She gives him the room on the sixth floor where nothing is right. The paint is peeling, there is a rat hole, the mattress, the clogging toilet & the non adjusting guest! The firing on the next day is worth watching.
She is standing on the kitchen table cleaning & gets the shock of her life. Later she gives it back with interest , but that’s much more with feeling. He offers to but her place for 10 billion & forces her to think quickly or else the money will reduce by 1 billion. She is lost & tries for her family members. Her granny is at the vegetable market & her little sister is in school. She gets locked in the toilet & lets precious minutes go waste. She signs the contract & watches the money get deposited in her account. For the first time since they left Korea the family has smiles on their faces.
Her brother a whiz at these computer games has lost his life. The virtual images are so real that they keep on puzzling us. How can a dead man appear in the middle of the night with sword in hand? The tussle then results in many fractures for Hyun Bin. But there is no blood loss. Wizards at the virtual imagery have you entralled.
With 16 episodes to go, many things yet to happen. Park shin-hye is good in “Doctors ” & ‘The Heirs’ with Min Ho. She is very good at emoting, her nose becomes red, her face reddens & lips quiver. Her eyes give a different dimension to her acting. She is comfortable with her casuals. Till now, she is in usual dresses, nothing fancy. Her being poor is from all the shows..a common trait. But she is a rebel in ‘Doctors’, a caring daughter of a disabled or differently abled mother & here too she is the bread earner working hard to pay off the debt. She has lost her parents & is taking care of her grandmother, younger brother & a sister.
