I thought it should be ‘Mama’s boy’ but it is different. A drama by Tooniverse. It is a three episode drama.It stars Kim so hyun & Kim Sun woong both looking so young & fresh. Jang Geu-rim wants to become a singer & gets transferred to a musical high school where her K-pop idol, Tae joon studies. But her room-mate turns to be a boy in disguise. Named Irene, she is the most popular girl that even Tae joon admires.
Three girls who are die hard fans of Tae joon are envious of Jang Geu-rim & plot against her. Once they push her in the swimming pool knowing she can’t swim. Irene reaches in time & saves her. Their photos become viral. But Tae joon saves her in time.There are three boys who are Irene’s fans & are envious of Jang Geu-rim being close to her. They want to scare Jang Geu-rim. So they lock her in the dark auditorium but it is the wrong girl.
Finally Irene dressed as a boy appears on the campus & acknowledges his friendship with Jang geu-rim. A cute little story. The fears, heartbreaks & the anxiety is very well pictorised. The features of the boy make him a cute girl. So till the secret is revealed Irene is a girl!
Another one was “Becky’s back” which has the question …who is the father? Remember ‘Mama Mia ‘ with the handsome men who could have fathered the daughter. Meryl Streep at her best. Her daughter plans to get married & invites all three of them to get them together & find out the real father among them. Becky here is a brave,brash & outgoing but when she reaches the island her mother’s hometown she changes. She discovers how her mother had left, the scandal involving a unwed mother.
In “Little girl K” the violence in the beginning as a drug racket is busted reminded me of “Akira” may be due to the hairstyle. In Akira, Sonakshi Sinha moves to Mumbai becomes the target of four police officers & has to prove her innocence. But here in “Little girl K” she leads a normal existence to mask her true identity. She is in search of her biological father. Search for the father is the common thread in both the Korean shows.
From Mahabharat, Karna’s entire lifetime is riddled with his biological parents.’Who am I?’ the main question is ‘why?’ if all have the privilege of being with their parents why am I denied my right? The trauma remains for his lifetime.
In “King: the eternal monarch” Lee min ho is able to convince her that he is the king. He also leads his ship to fight the Japanese who have entered the Korean seas. They retreat when they see that the King himself is in the lead & means business. Coming back she misses him & doesn’t know when they will meet. As she returns from the police station he is waiting for her. The two episodes per week are perfect in maintaining the suspense. Now that the prime minister also has seen her & is jealous, things are getting interesting. The woman they were chasing ,named ‘Luna’ is her splitting image. That angle is also now gaining momentum.
