Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Naming the seagull is not the only thing that the writer Richard Bach do but to open eyes of millions. His books are straight from the heart. This particular book is about the seagull learning to fly. He asks many how & learns to soar high. The pneumatics is explained & how to overcome the fear of failure. He masters the art of effortless flying. It is written in 1970 but I got hold of it in 1987.

I am forever indebted to my Mamas who introduced me to the world of books. He would not only suggest but give a copy to read. After reading “Johnathan..” a couple of times I went further with his other books.’Illusions’ ( what is the world? nothing but illusion!), ‘The adventures of a reluctant Messiah’ is so natural. It looks like a much handled journal kept by a mechanic. It is stained & greasy, but each word is a gem!

‘The bridge across forever’, or “One” are almost like a good story. The rest have a unusual quality that sticks to you. The words keep ringing the whole day. Walking in a trance. “Biplane” has a lone pilot giving you a ride in the fields. It has a lesson on the workings & how to fly on the minimum fuel. His experiences enrich ours!

‘There is no place as far away’ is the shortest, smallest & the best. It has a cover with a seagull ( Who else? ) widened span of wings & flying high. It is about a little girl turning five ( just a number!) who has invited Richard Bach to her birthday party. A thousand miles separate them, but she is confident that he will make it. In this 1979 tale, now a classic, a profound remainder that miles do not separate us from our beloved. Those we love will always be with us, aren’t they in our minds?

They share with us all the moments in our life. Isn’t it all in the mind? Aren’t we there even if we are physically miles away? Enjoy every moment as if it is the last & also the first! We need not meet every day but that we are together is all important. The distances cannot & do not diminish the feelings we have for each other. What is distance? The miles on the scale or the meter we use ? But like tele porting The telepathy works with efficiancy because of the thoughts, which are more effective, more important!

Quotes- What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly.

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect & joy in each other’s life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.

You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true. You may have to work for it, however.

Argue for your limitations, and sure enough ,they are yours.

Can miles truly separate you from friends……If you want to be with someone you love, aren’t you already there ?

Leaving you with the thought. Have Happy thoughts!
