I had been getting suggestion for this show since ages but the poster didn’t attract me. After ‘The last empress’ I was searching for Shin sung -rok when I came across ‘My love from another star’ & then I had to see it. Shin sung-rok is the villain & has very few scenes initially, later as things heat up he is there in the midst. Much younger & typical.
The lead pair is one of the best in Korean dramas.Kim Soo-hyun ( one of the highest paid stars) & Jun Ji-hyun ( her best being’My sassy girl’!) who completed this show in 2013. She had got married in 2012, I found that absolutely admirable. She is so Sweet & stupid that you can’t help falling in love with her. He is the epitome of coolness. He could as well have been an icicle. But that to is so endearing. I got it why this show had a high rating! It is rumoured that when this show was being aired the prices of chicken & beer had gone up because she likes it( In the show!)
He is an alien from a planet. He is living here for last 400 years. Towards the 12 th episode he confides to her. He has less than two months left. He is returning back. A very bad time to develop feelings & wishing for a normal life! Her disbelief is complete. ‘You are an alien! & I am a vampire’ did I like it!
The murder mystery of her friend is going on. There is her rival Yoo in -na, who is showing her true colors. Her boyfriend ( Park Hae jin, who wants to be her boyfriend since high school but has not succeeded yet!) also Shin sung-rok’s younger brother. In short too many characters who have not got a chance to prove themselves. I wonder what happens in the last 4 episodes.
“Another Parting” is also a show where an alien comes to the earth to find why do humans cry? He meets a woman on a bridge about to jump in the river below. She is crying. He follows her & promises to help her. The end is bit confusing but the pair is adorable. I agree they could have a full length series.
In “King: the last monarch” Lee min ho says he is a king. She does not believe. He says his buttons are diamond. She says ” & I am Diana!” When the jeweller admits that the diamond is of a high quality, cut is perfect ,etc. Min ho remembers her comment & asks, “Who is Diana?”
Such touches make the show worth watching. Keep watching!
