A 2018 drama with Hyun bin & Son Ye jin the hit pair today because of ‘Crash landing on you’.Inspector Ha is given the job to negotiate with Min & try to release two hostages that he has. Min is in Thailand & from Korea he has to be pleaded to hand over the hostages. One is a reporter & the other hostage is Inspector Ha’s superior. But when she starts talking she comes to know of a family also being held by Min.
Some of the pieces do have a feeling of deja vu & some from many thrillers watched but this one has the ability to hold your interest till the end.There was ‘ The Negotiator’ in 1998 on similar theme,with Samuel Jackson & Kevin Spacey. The police negotiator is accused of corruption & he takes hostages to buy himself time& search for evidence to clear his name. Here Hun bin is trying to bring all those involved in killing his sister & corrupt politicians to boot.
Both of them have done a very good job. I had watched Hyun bin’s ‘Secret garden’ earlier & he is different here. When they catch the reporter in Bangkok, all cars converge & his Tuk tuk has to halt. Hyun bin’s entry then is filmy if I may say. Steps down in style & stars. One of the most handsome actors, very stylish, uses his smile & has great control over his voice. Son ye jin is an excellent actress. I have watched her in ‘Something in the rain” & ‘Personal Taste’. This role was different but she has done it so well. He asks her for her measurements where she gets flustered & severs the connection. She controls herself & answers all his questions honestly as he had demanded. in the end when he says he would have really liked to have a drink with her, your heart goes out for him then. He has managed to be endearing in spite of being a kidnapper & a wrong doer.
Worth a watch certainly.Happy viewing!
