The Doctors

A 2016 drama featuring Kim Rae won & Park Shin hye. The drama begins with Park shin hye tying up her hair & getting into a fight in the hospital, her white coat does not help her. The men are not happy at having a lady doctor treat their boss. Immediately into the flash back she is a difficult student & her father drops her at her Granny’s place. It did not feel very encouraging. Then comes her teacher Kim Rae won & things start to fall in place. She is motivated to study & becomes a doctor.

The drama was a smash hit. Troubled teenager into a charismatic doctor was much loved by the audience. Thirteen years later when they meet again, he confesses his feelings for her.Their scenes have been delicately handled. His hesitation & her nature, being cautious always makes it loveable.

The other pair of doctors is Yoon Kyun sang & Lee Sung -kyung. Both are rich & their elders have always looked at them as a given. But Yoon falls for Shin hye & Lee is in that typical Jealous mode. The two girls know each other from school. Lee has everything in life she can ask for. But when she develops feelings for teacher Kim Rae won, a Biology teacher, he has fallen for Shin hye. When she joins her hospital to find her boyfriend Yoon falling for Shin hye.

Yoon is lovable as a doctor in their team. He is plump (Alaskan bear as he is referred to) sweet & confused why Dr Kim is a step ahead. He has done a good job. Ji soo in a very brief role. The directors of the hospital are father & son, Dr Lee’s father & grandfather, are the same in ‘White nights’.Minor subplots make it interesting.

There are many doctors series but this one stands out due to the story & the star cast. Both Kim & Park bagged the excellence award for the show. Yoon got the best new actor award. Jang Hyun Sung also bagged top excellence award. He is a regular & has a quiet presence in many dramas.

Waiting to complete many more good dramas. Happy viewing!
