The story begins with a man receiving a wedding invitation card from his first love, whom he met in high school. He remembers the day when she came to the school for the first time. He was being spanked & she was a transfer student.In the lead are Park bo young & Kim young kwang, both look so young & fresh. I seriously believed this was before ‘Strong girl’ but it was a year later & Park bo young looks like a high schooler.
Kim Young’s next show was ‘ The secret life of my secretary’ so it is no surprise that he looks very fresh & young, a teenager. He is awkward around her & also wants to be with her, he has done that really well. He was awarded the best actor & the most popular one, which he deserved.
“Gate crashers’ crashing into a wedding for a free meal is not new. In ‘ Three idiots ‘ they go to Mona’s wedding & later abduct Kareena from her wedding. Here he goes to the wedding with his friends , has a quiet moment with her, they again go through the lovely moments they had & go their own way. Was is disappointing? It was. Every story cannot have a happy end I believe, but when all the faults are analysed, options weighed it was only proper to end it the way we like.
Her experience of having a father, an alcoholic & mother having to fend for her own ,fine. But it means to rise above & make a life of your own. Living together was fine till the sentence came up,’ You have messed up my life.’ It is tangled, but going away to Belgium for three years & finding someone there! When she knows he has broken up with his girlfriend the moment she re-entered his life. Her decision to marry someone else when she knew he is waiting. I don’t know, it just did not sit well with me. Was I intent on their being together? maybe. But the end was frustrating for sure.
Her brother’s wedding in ‘Something in the rain’ when Jung hae in comes back from States, finds Son Ye jin not being treated well by her current boyfriend doesn’t fight there. He required patience to win her back which he did in the end. I like this type of stories but then the director, Ahn Pan seok, is someone to look forward to!
