It is a 2016 drama.It is also known as Moonlight drawn by clouds.It is a historical drama where a crown prince begins to fall in love with his political eunuch,who is really a young woman posing as a man.The prince is Park Bo gum & his eunuch is Kim Yoo jung.Their relation is too sweet.Right from the moment they meet there is total confusion.
it is also known as Moonlight drawn by clouds.The sky,moonlight & clouds have been used actually & metaphorically.Without much bloodshed the story progresses along.It has many similarities with a later drama,Rookie Historian—Which explores a girls wishes & the then society—which even today remains the same.The choice to education,own partner,societal norms,even today are clouded by near & dear friends,family,elders,etc.
Within the limit of a historical drama various issues are handled by a rookie lady writer.Many more such good dramas are anticipated.The pair in Rookie historian –Cha Eun -woo & Shin Se-Kyung are good looking,but do not let their looks hamper the proceeds.She is a free spirited scholar in the joseon royal court & Prince Rim falls for her .Their journey is similar to Park go gum as both have to hide their identity initially.
What is praise worthy is the end.Both the ladies are commoners,so the princes had to ward off the affection of their royal chosen partners & remain loyal to their love.Which they do with the help of their close ones.In Rookie historian the story tends to favour the historian,hence we follow her more.In the moonlight ,the story has two more male characters.Along with Bo gum there is equally good looking Jung jin young,who also likes Kim Yoo-jung & can meet her more because he is not a prince.He has to die in a later sequence,naturally.And there is Kwang Dong-yeon,who is a royal guard,Bo gum”s childhood friend.
Kim Yoo-jung is very cute.She has been a child artist,she’s a natural.Her big eyes are her asset.She plays a eunuch her,how she escapes the various tests is worth watching.In Rookie Historian,Prince Rim’s constant companion is a eunuch,who has seen him grow up.His expressions,mannerisms are unique.The entire team around Prince Rim is great.In both the shows the princes are labelled as crazy,they are not expected to excel.But with the entry of love in their lives they blossom into better beings.Un certainty is replaced by confidence,palace matters suddenly become important,start to make some bold decisions,etc.I enjoyed both the shows.
I have this huge liking for historical dramas,but the stories are good with lot of history thrown in for good measure.May not be a fan of either Bo gum Or Cha Eun,it’s worth a dekho.So, happy viewing!
