To all the boys I have loved before

It is a 2018 film where Lara Jean is shown growing up. She has five love letters written with her but never had the courage to post them. Her younger sister Kitty posts them & Lara Jean is confronted by each of the boys.

First it’s Peter,The most popular boy in the school. He was always with her friend Jen,till date.He confronts her & she knows after so many years her feelings are mixed but not lost altogether. She chances to see Josh, her neighbour & best friend coming with a letter & she just runs away. She climbs through her window & rolls below.Josh is today her sister,Margot’s boyfriend,so how can she do this to her sister.

It is also a tale of a family missing the mother.Father taking care of three daughters.Margot is now in Scotland pursuing her studies. So it’s Lara Jean & Kitty.Kitty knows Peter & Lara like each other but will never go ahead so she posts the letters written in seventh grade.

Peter leaves Jen & starts a fake relationship with Lara to make Jen jealous.Lara signs a deal & puts in some terms. At the end of two months they are still together.Lara is still unable to sort out her feelings ,when Kitty gives a push again & gives her all those small chits that Peter has written.Lara runs to the lacarrose ground & confesses her feelings to Peter.

In the sequel PS I still love you, Peter & Lara are still in a relationship when John appears.Lara’s other crush who is a quiet.studious fellow. He also has received a letter. He was always Peter’s friend & assumes that Peter is with Jen.At a party when Lara is all decked up & enjoying Feels a need to be with Peter, who appears to take her home. They did a tiff earlier & she had not expected him to be there. So all ends well.

The final part is in the works, should be available towards the month end. What keeps you going is the small things which work so well. Those niggling thoughts, that self doubt are all very relatable. The mother is Korean,so rituals have that touch.I learned one new word-Jung-Is bonding, affection.Between friends, sisters, families, religions, why between all the members of mankind! I like that word.

Growing up dramas are most difficult to act. Both the leads are good. They make you feel you know them.So natural.A 2020 film with a different director but very effective.Short & sweet.Looking forward to the next one.Happy viewing!
