Today lets go to the world of Lee Joon-gi & IU.If we go to the list of top ten dramas made in Korea this may or may not feature in the list but if we go to the feedback we find people waiting for season 2 even today. The opening scene shows IU diving into the water & surfaces in the Historical period.Her adventures there,interaction with the king,queens, the princes who adore her is all fiction. History says that the 4th prince portrayed by lee in real life married his niece, the daughter of the first prince but in the drama he has feelings for IU.
It has wonderful cast, costumes, choreography, characters,cream of all actors–need we say more? It broke all the popularity charts internationally.It has charm, charisma,comedy,cheesy sequence( not a single) & chain of events which are bound by soulful music.It never gets loud.All the actors equally rose to fame & none have looked back since then. Its a 2016 show but you start from any episode & you will follow the rest.
IU is a cousin of Prince Wook’s wife so Wook befriends her first. Kang Ha-neul is an excellent actor(recently awarded for his character of a police officer in ” When camellia blooms”where he played the main lead)but when 10th prince enters rest of the princes are overshadowed.Lee exudes a strong aura around him.Blood shed at places is inevitable.Rest of the story proceeds with a small story of each character.Binding all tit bits & keeping the viewers enthralled is no mean task.At the end of every episode we have a surprise which is carried forward flawlessly.
Nam Joo-hyuk as prince Baeka is an artist.His make up is such that we cannot imagine how he will look without his attire & make up.But in his show “The Bride of Habaek” & Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok-joo he looks equally good. He has that vulnerability that makes him likable.I had seen both his heroines earlier but they are different in his show.Shin Se-kyung in Habaek is cute. But she is bolder in Rookie Historian where she leads Prince Rim ( Cha Eun Woo) . His other lead ie Lee Sung-kyung is so strong here,I almost forgot I had seen her in Doctors.Where she had the main role of pestering . Ji Soo is another great friend of Nam joo hyuk that he is somewhere in his show,may be a cameo as in Bok joo where he works along with him & Nam hyuk tells her to avoid him.In Bong soon he appears in the second lead & in Doctors again as Park shin hye’s savior. His role has been cut short as Kim Rae-won enters her life .
IU is an excellent singer & so cute in Moon Lovers we can’t imagine any other actor there.Her last year’s Hotel Del Luna was a big hit.Baekhyun another singer doing so well in the music industry played the 10th Prince.
At the very end in Moon lovers, IU returns to the present & there is no Lee waiting nearby. That is totally unacceptable. Most of the viewers wanted a better end.There can be so that the viewer draws his own conclusions although there is no closure as such.I may watch historical dramas but the mark left by this show will remain forever.Happy viewing!
