The concept of both being chefs was very novel. The tussle between a five star hotel & night market was unique.Actors all of them, their style, locale, photography- above all the cleanliness was what we all wish for. Ivy & Chris wu were at their best.I watched his another show- What is love- which showcased various forms of love. He plays a playboy & is used to get what he wishes. The heroine is on the wrong side of thirties & falls for him immediately. Then the story proceeds to make him commit & confess his love. This show showcases beautiful costumes. Chris Wu is younger, fresher, bolder, in bold colours yellow shirt red pant etc.I am not much into stitching or colour schemes but all the ladies have beautiful well stitched & fitted clothes.Every frame is beautiful. But I liked him better in the perfect match because – they are a perfect match & he fits this role better.Breaking his image & accepting him to be a fickle & flashy individual was just not possible for me.I have seen trailers for his new show- the ghost bride but I don’t like ghosts so I will prefer Dr. Cutie or sweet girl. Just as I was finishing this drama I came accross The Coffee Prince- which is my all time favourite. I like everything about it.There started the saga of the Korean dramas. Goggle gave a list of ten top dramas —First one is the first coffee shop or the coffee prince —all time favourite & second is Her private life another of my most loved ones.I watched it on you tube & completed it again on Netflix. These two dramas are such You can begin from any scene & you will still like it.Gong Yoo paired with Yoon Eun hye gives a classic in yhe history of dramas. He remains a heart throb till date. The story of a rich boy & poor girl is not new at all, but the treatment is .whats more all the sub- plots are interesting too.Pace is racy . Music score, the second lead, the family angle are all you look forward to.I had my eyes fixed on the Japanese guy- Kim Jae Wook ( that remains till date. With Her Private life he gets his due–the lead role) The main heroine Eun donning a male garb is one of the favourite themes in K dramas—but here she really looks like a pretty boy. Gong falls for her & is totally confused. His anger when he realises that she is a girl is understandable. Their scenes have been thoughtful & cute without going over board or vulgar.
I came across the second lead syndrome while watching the coffee prince & knew that not only the main leads but the second leads add to the true flavour.Gong’s brother is a interesting character. His life is more dynamic. He is shown handling his artist girlfriend along with the mercurial younger brother Gong. He momentarily develops feelings for Eun but checks himself in time.He quickly realises that she has feelings for only one person–Gong. With mere mention of coffee prince I am almost running a replay in my mind. Its a 2007 drama & still remembered. All of the artists made their name, fame & acclaim with one show.I have to see Train to busan –a landmark in Gong’s life & Princess hours for Eun. I saw her in a cameo in Personal Taste. Its a Lee Min-ho show all the way. But that will have to wait. Lee Min-ho is a emperor of K dramas. More in the next blog. Enjoy!
