21 year old Oh Je -ro is a musical genius. But to support his sick father, he ‘s worked for years at a piano factory as a tuner. He thinks, his father named him that sounds like “Oh, Zero”, signifying his lack of hopes in the future.
He meets & falls in love with Yoon In-sa, a 30 year old music teacher in a school. She had also dreamt of becoming the world’s greatest pianist when young. Due to her poor circumstances she had to give up. She leads an exhausting life as a part -time music teacher at an elementary school.
A piano will bring these two souls together, share dreams, hopes, pain & eventually heal each other.
Her doctor boyfriend is going on a blind date, another doctor. Because of family pressure. He doesn’t have the courage to tell them about his 5 year old relationship. ‘Let’s break up’ she says & gets out of the car. He drives away.
She throws her shoes at the car in anger. Oh Je ro meets her thus. Bare foot, angry. He gives her slippers to wear & drops her. They are opposites. She gives him a coffee can as gratitude. He breaks the ring.
New, raw, to etiquette… he is inadequate. But with a large heart. Calling her over & having black bean soup, he has sauce on his face. She wipes for him. Trying to repair a piano in school, he plays Chopin when a student doubts if she can play!
He accepts her broken piano only to have her meet again & again. She tries so many mentors who can help him learn.
I am almost visualizing every scene. It is superb! Go watch!!
Choi Min ho as Oh Je ro. His debut as lead when he was just 19! He says he is 25, then 26 to match her. Little knowing she is 30!!
But then age is just a number. They are made for each other. Finally, when he goes in the shop again, he is going to meet her. That’s the end. We imagine what they will say when they meet.
Han Ji -hye as In sa. She knows talent when she sees it. She helps him after breaking up with him. After losing her job she needed support, instead she chooses to leave him.
Choi Phillip as her boyfriend, Han Jung -woo. Jo hee -bong as the owner of the shop where Je-ro works. With his curly, long hair looks so different.
